Public Health Infrastructure Grant - Community of Practice (CoP)
WHAT TO EXPECT
Join us every month for meaningful conversations with your peers. This is an opportunity for 8 direct recipients of the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) located in Region 8 states (Denver Department of Public Health, El Paso County Public Health, or state health departments in CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, or WY) to come together for valuable discussions, sharing, learning, and networking.
A "community of practice" is a group of professionals who come together to discuss a topic or issue they all have in common. By joining this community of practice, you are saying you have something to share from your own work with strengthening U.S. public health infrastructure, workforce, and data systems —and that you have things that you want to learn, to advance your practice in this area. The PHIG Community of Practice will be facilitated, and each month's topic will be sent out to registrants in advance and feedback provided will shape the conversation for each month. There will not be any formal presentation, though, and the conversation will be driven by the participants. Each session will feature a brief information-sharing segment (~10 minutes), followed by open discussion and knowledge exchange.
Professionals engaged in expanding the public health workforce, enhancing foundational capabilities, or improving public health data utilization within Denver Department of Public Health, El Paso County Public Health, or state health departments in CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, or WY are invited to participate. You do not need to attend every month.
Below is the schedule for these live sessions:
• November 27th — | Effective recruitment and hiring practices in public health |
• December 14th — | Strategies for onboarding and training new public health staff |
• January 22nd — | Enhancing staff retention in public health organizations |
• February 26th — | Strategies for expanding and diversifying the public health workforce |
Still not sure if this Community of Practice (CoP) is what you're looking for? We encourage you to still register and join us for an upcoming session!
We strive to host inclusive and accessible events that enable all individuals, including those with disabilities to engage fully. Please let us know of any accommodations that will assist your full participation.
