Is it worth it?  Is this program or intervention a good use of resources?  Are we having an impact?  Maybe you're asking yourself these questions - or maybe funders or decision makers are asking you.  This online, self-paced module will focus on types of economic evaluations and how they can inform decision-making regarding public health interventions.  Participants will become familiar with common economic evaluation terms and the steps involved in conducting an economic evaluation.

  1. Describe the ways economics contributes to public health

  2. Describe cost of illness/burden of illness studies

  3. Define economic evaluation, identify the different types, and learn about those most often used in public health

  4. Describe the process involved in conducting an economic evaluation

  5. Recognize how economics and economic evaluation can help to measure and influence health equity

  6. Know where to find cost of illness/burden of illness studies and economic evaluations
