In this virtual workshop, participants will delve into the “how” of bringing about policy, systems, or environmental change – namely through identifying the decision makers who can make the change and how to influence those decision makers through an understanding of change management, communication strategies, and power-building tactics.
Please note that participants are expected to complete the Writing an Issue Statement Online Module prior to this training.
Erin Bertoli has over 18 years’ experience working in health policy change. From 2001 – 2010 Ms. Bertoli was the Senior Director of Government Affairs for the American Heart Association. While working for the Heart Association Ms. Bertoli was a leader in many statewide and local public health campaigns. Including; numerous local smoke free campaigns, the 2004 tobacco tax ballot initiative, increasing access and utilization of AEDs, increasing physical activity for Colorado students and limiting access to sugar sweetened beverages in schools. From 2006-2010 Ms. Bertoli served as Vice Chair then Chair of the State Tobacco Education and Prevention Review Committee. During this time the Committee oversaw the States multi-million-dollar Tobacco Education and Prevention Program. Starting in 2013, Ms. Bertoli joined the Center for Public Health Practice within the Colorado School of Public Health. Her role now focuses on supporting grantees, communities and decision makers throughout the policy process.
