The Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center is pleased to share that we are offering a limited number of scholarships (2 total) to those working in our region (CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, and WY) who are interested in participating in this Facilitation Foundations course. Scholarship recipients will be asked to pay $35, after receiving a $350 scholarship, to enroll in the course and fully participate in the live sessions, discussion boards, and evaluation (at the end of course and the 6-month follow-up form).
The scholarship application form will close on July 26, 2023 at 11:59 PM MT (four weeks before the first live session). An internal committee will review all applications, and applicants will be notified 3 weeks before the first live session on whether they were selected to receive a scholarship. This 10-week course uses highly interactive activities to build your capacity to facilitate meetings and coalitions that are efficient, effective, and lead to results.
To be a more effective and efficient facilitator, we’ll help you first understand your own facilitation style. You will learn how to anticipate, prevent and intervene in difficult situations to keep the group from derailing and halting progress. Additionally, we will explore structured strategies you can use to generate ideas, evaluate and select ideas, and make a group decision. You’ll learn to help a group meet its goals and take ownership of the process.
We use a flipped-classroom approach, so you’ll work through course content independently and then connect with a small cohort of peers weekly for live learning sessions that provide an opportunity to ask questions, share your knowledge, and learn from others. This learning community promotes networking and self-reflection as part of developing one's self as a facilitator.
5 Live Learning Sessions: EVERY OTHER THURSDAY, 9am-11Am (MT)
Each session will include a facilitated discussion among class participants related to that week’s topic. A subject matter expert will lead the discussion, engage participants, and answer questions. Below is the schedule for our live sessions.
Successful completion of this course requires your participation in these sessions by video using a webcam or built-in camera on your device. Contact us if you need assistance accessing a webcam.
weekly Online Learning activities
Each week, you must complete assigned online learning activities that include reading and watching videos. There will also be a short assignment in preparation for each live learning session that should take about an hour to complete.
Look for an email from us 2 weeks before your first live session with instructions on how to access the course online. If you don’t see an email (don’t forget to check your spam folder), email email@example.com. Make sure you sign in prior to your first live session to complete the required activities and ensure you know how to connect with your camera.
